Texas Nodal Primer:
Design of the Nodal Market in Texas

2nd Edition, February 7, 2006

This document has 19 pages packed with information about the origin, development, issues, and participants in the Texas Nodal Market Design project. It summarizes the parties’ and the PUCT’s positions to help in the understanding of the various mechanisms being proposed for the new market. The 19 pages include
  • a useful list of Acronyms and Definitions, and an Appendix to help you locate the various Whitepapers developed over the last two years as a background for the new market design elements
  • links to the vital documents that you would need to research into the arguments and decisions made in this project.
    • The update includes current ERCOT and stakeholder implementation activities, and budget and timeline projections, as well as an update on the PUCT’s Nodal Protocols hearing.
  • The information covered in this Primer is generally NOT the operational information included in the ERCOT training sessions, but is instead a policy, issue, and process-related document that will assist the reader in understanding the context of the new market design and what to expect as the project moves forward. The nodal primer will prove to be a valuable tool for your company in finding opportunities for involvement and planning for the major changes in the Texas wholesale electric market.
